Storybrooke History:
Anya has been an orphan all her life. She never had anyone, and for the most part she always kept to herself. She was quite and hardly ever talked with anyone, even once she started school. She was never adopted by anyone while in the orphanage, and so once she finished high school she was able to get a degree in teaching after a few years at the community college, and since then she has been teaching at the local school as the music teacher.
Fantasy History:
Anastasia was born in Russia, and at the time was the daughter of the current Tsar Nicholas II. Nicholas had made an enemy out of Grigori Rasputin, a man who, after driven to make a deal to sell his soul out of anger, used the powers he had gained to destroy the family. Anastasia almost escaped with her grandmother the night the incident occurred, but she was left behind accidentally, and in the process she forgot who she was.
After that she spent many years of her life in an orphanage until she was old enough to leave, in which she then traveled to St. Petersburg to see if she could find her family. Instead she met a man named Dimitri and his friend Vlad. They told her they would take her to meet the dowager empress because she was her granddaughter, although at first Anastasia didn't believe them. But, in the end, after Vlad and Dimitri had taught her the history of the family, she realized she was the daughter.
It took a bit of time, but finally she was reunited with her grandmother, and in the end she accepted her place as the grand duchess. Dimitri had left Paris after believing that Anastasia didn't want to see him again, but when Anastasia was attacked by Rasputin during a ball thrown in her honor Dimitri reappeared and saved her life. In the end she and Dimitri ended up going away together since Anastasia realized that she loved him.

She waited until they were gone before she shut the door, then turned and began to flip through her music, already beginning to sing as she jotted down word after word as she began to perfect ending to her day.
