Storybrooke History: During the 28 years that the curse was active, he happily spent his days stuffing and mounting deceased pets and other animals for those who requested it and could afford it. However, once the curse was broken, he remembered who he was and what he had been doing, so he started looking for Red again. Realizing quickly that Ruby was Red, he started spending as much time with her as possible. She has taught him how to control the wolf instead of allowing the wolf to control him. He thinks of Ruby as an older sister.
Fantasy History: Keening was born on a small farm in the Enchanted Forest. His father died when he was young, so he was raised by his mother. Thankfully, with the farm being so small, it was easy to maintain. The hardest task fell to Keening, which was the shepherding of the sheep. Being a typical young male, he enjoyed playing pranks. His favorite prank was yelling about a wolf attack when there wasn't actually a wold. Even though his family wasn't exactly well off, Keening felt life couldn't be better. Then one day after he turned thirteen, something tragic happened. Keening had woke up and went to check on his sheep as usual, and found them slaughtered. Living in the town he did, he knew all about Wolf's Time. Therefore, he immediately assumed it was a werewolf that had killed his sheep. He ran back to the house to tell his mother, but spotted something he hadn't on his way to the sheep. His mother's body was laying near the corner of the house, split nearly in two. Keening fell to his knees and began to sob.
After he finally calmed down, he ran to his closest neighbor and best friend, Red. He told Granny and Red what happened and Granny took a couple of guys to clean up the mess. While they were gone, Red told Keening about the hunting parties that went out during Wolf's Time to find and kill the wolf. After hearing that story, Keening decided to start training. He went to the leader of the hunting party and begged to join and learn. After almost a month and a half of training, he realized that natural methods weren't going to be enough. Magic would be needed to take out the wolf. Knowing of only one person who could give him what he needed, he left the village and started looking for Rumplestiltskin. As it is with Rumple, the search didn't take long. Also as usual with Rumple, he requested something in return for the tools Keening needed. Keening offered Rumple the land that had passed into his possession following his mother's death. Rumple accepted and a deal was struck, with Rumples "gift" being a bow an a quiver of arrows which, when used together, never miss their target.
It wasn't until a few months later that he learned the terrifying truth. It was the time of month for another full moon. He began waking in places and not remembering how he got there or what had happened the night before. Terrified, he did the only thing that made sense to him; he ran to Red's. However, when he arrived, Granny was there alone. She told him that Red had left with a good friend and she didn't know when Red would return. Granny being the only person he had left close to family, he told her everything. She had known Keening's father, and hoped she would never have to give him the grave news. Sitting him down, she explained that his father had been a werewolf, and that Keening had the gene. She explained that it was very likely that the reason he couldn't remember anything was because he was now a werewolf. Thankfully, the time for the full moon was over, so Granny kept him there and taught him how to use his heightened senses. Mainly, she taught him Red's scent and told him to find her. She explained that Red would be the only one who could help him now. However, only days after he left to find Red, the curse hit, sending him to Storybrooke.
Anything Else: Many might call his clothing flamboyant. It consists of bright colors and straps or chains, tight shirts, and baggy pants. If one were to label his style of clothing, it would be referred to as "rave chique". He also has a large collection of what he refers to as "tassel hats" because he doesn't know the real name. He presumably has a different one for every day of the year. Also, he prefers to be called Benjee. The only people able to get away with calling him Benjamin are Granny and Red. If anyone else were to do it, they would either get an evil look or a punch in the arm, depending on their gender.
Sample Post: Benjee, or Keening as he now remembered he was, spun around slowly trying to get his bearings. Then, he suddenly remembered what he had been doing when the curse hit. Thankfully, he didn't have to find something with her scent on it. His taxidermy building was only a few blocks down from the diner where she worked. Stepping outside, he saw her, and everything seemed better. Wasting no time, he ran to the diner and damn near tackled Ruby to the ground, but thankfully didn't. He pulled her into his arms and lifted her in the air. She might be older than him, but he was always taller. Setting her back on her feet, he kissed her forehead.
"Hey there, Red. Or do I call you Ruby? Oh, it doesn't matter. I'm just so glad to see you." At that moment, he realized Granny was standing there as well and how rude he was being. He let go of Ruby and pulled Granny into a hug. "I missed you, too. Don't think I didn't You were always there for me. Especially after..."
He stopped talking and tears began to slowly make their way out of his eyes and down his cheeks. The first were tears of sadness as he remembered his mother. The rest, however, were of pure joy. He couldn't believe that he finally found Red. It was the happiest day of his life. Little did he know that within a few days time, he'd be hiding in the woods and she would come to his rescue.
