Marian sat on the edge of the dock her feet hanging over the edge, dangling in the cool water. She wore a cloak wrapped around her with the hood drawn up to protect her from the cool breeze. Things were quiet, it was unusual, but Marian wasn't going to disrupt the silence and the peace that came from it.
Glancing up at the sky, Marian smiled, it was amazing what little pleasure one could take in simple things these days. Lost in her own thoughts, Marian was unaware of anything going on around her.

Robin had been traveling for a long time, but he always tried to be aware of what was happening back home, but in particular with the lovely Maid Marian. He wore a cloak around his usual outfit, his shoes worn, and his bow and arrows slung around his back like always.
Robin grinned as he snuck up behind, not yet walking on the dock, but leaned against a tree and skipped a rock out into the water. "You're looking striking as always." He watched the rock skip and then turned to look at Marian.

Marian started, her heart in her throat as she jumped up and spun around in one graceful movement seconds after the rock skipped across the water. Dropping her hand back down to her side from where it had been placed over her heart in fright, Marian took a deep breath. "Robin," she said with a shake of her head.
Slipping her feet back into her shoes, Marian walked closer to where the edge of the dock connected with the ground drawing her cloak tighter around herself as she folded her arms under her chest. "And you," Marian said slowly looking around for more of his merry men hiding in the trees. "Should I assume you're up to your normal mischief?" Marian tried to hide the smile which was teasing the corners of her lips, trying to look annoyed the Robin had snuck up behind her... again.

Robin grinned, "why thank you. I think the forest and mud helps bring out my eyes."
Robin walked towards her, "mischief?" Robin circled her as he continued talking, "I don't know what you could be referring to, it's just me here."
Robin spun around and held out a flower that he had picked from the field. "For the beautiful lady, from the mischievous gentlemen." He looked up at her as he offered her the flower.

Marian rolled her eyes, but smiled. "Your eyes are quite lovely," she said taking a step closer to Robin, amazed as always that he still seemed to not have too many cuts or bruises from his gallivanting around the forest.
"Yes Mischief," Marian said her blue eyes sparkling. "You can't have me believe that you're alone, there are always men around you..." Marian looked around. "Where is little John, you two are never apart."
Marian smiled, secretly pleased with the compliment and the flower Robin offered her. Taking the flower, Marian smiled. "Well, you'll have to give my thanks to this mischievous gentleman," Marian said teasingly. "If he was here I'd thank him properly, but you've just told me that you're up to no mischief today, so it obviously isn't you." Marian grinned pleased with herself.

Robin laughed, "I can't have men around me all the time, then there would be no sanity. As for Little John he's probably out conversing with fairies. You know how he is."
Robin grinned stepping closer to Marian, "and if he was here Madam, how exactly would you thank him?" Robin winked at her, his eyes twinkling as he waited for her response, which he hoped would be a demonstration of her thank you.

"The fairy's again, really" Marian sighed. "We really must find him a lady friend that is more his size, it would be more appropriate don't you think?" Pushing a wayward strand of hair out of her eyes, Marian smiled up at Robin as he stepped closer.
Marian bit her bottom lip her long eye lashes fluttering as she looked up at Robin trying to decide how best to handle him. Moving closer Marian was close enough that her cheek just barely touched his as she leaned in and whispered. "Well with a kiss of course, as he would deserve for going to so much effort to bring me such a lovely flower."
Placing her hand on his chest Marian bit her bottom lip before turning away and walking a few steps away trying to hide her smile. "What brings you to the docks Robin?" she asked wishing she could have seen the look on Robin's face over what she had said before.

Robin laughed, "I've tried, they just don't end up being with him..." Robin looked innocently at Marian before continuing, "maybe you should try to find him one, bet if all the other ladies knew you were friends with him it would increase his chances."
Robin watched Marian and he waited with earnest hope as she whispered to him about the kiss and when she turned away he looked like a disappointed but determined child. He shook his head and laughed, "of course she would do that." Robin muttered under his breath.
Robin made sure he didn't look the least disappointed when Marian asked him what he was doing there. He knew she was just teasing him, and he always loved a bit of fun. "Well, I came to actually met a fair lady here, Katherine. But alas I got word too late that she was sick, and I didn't want the flower to go to waste, so that is why I am here. To give a lady a flower, though can't really say the flower is mine either." Robin grinned. He had of course come to visit Marian after finding out that she was here.

Marian gasped as Robin said that he had come to see a lady by the name of Katherine. The nerve. Suddenly Marian couldn't help but not feel guilty about teasing him as she had. "And you didn't bring her a flower to see that she gets better? Really Robin," Marian said with a shake of her head. She knew he was only playing, but still.
"Would you come and see me if you found out I was ill" Marian asked spinning on her heel to look back at Robin. She knew he would be after a kiss now, but she was determined to make him work for it, maybe even suffer a bit.

Robin shrugged, "no, didn't think of that. She's allergic to flowers you know." Robin smiled as he noticed that Marian felt a little bad, but he knew that she was used to his joking.
With her next question he smiled and snuck closer to her. "All my men would be there, I might be part of the mix. Some flowers and soup might accompany us too. Though that will only happen if you promise to not throw things at us. The men don't take to that very well." Robin teased her. He of course would like to be there, and to be notified that she was sick.

Marian looked up at Robin through her eyelashes, hoping to look wounded by what he said. If she really wanted to play, she could always get a little teary-eyed.
"Well I'm glad they would come and visit me," Marian said taking a step back as he stepped closer. "I've always thought John fancied me. And some of your other men too, come to think of it, maybe one of them may be the gentleman I've been searching for, the one to sweep me off my feet." Marian bit her bottom lip. "I've only ever thrown things at you, never them," she said licking her lips and smiling mischievously again.

Robin laughed, also taking a step forward, they could go on like this forever, unless if he somehow managed to back her up into the water or something else. Yes, she would be wet, but games were games. "Good luck with that. I think the men are too scared of you, from all the stories I tell them."
Robin pouted and rubbed his arm, "yes, and I believe the gentlemen you're looking for has a rather bruised heart from all the things you've thrown at him, that is why he is trying another way to avoid getting hit, next time you might put a crack in it." Robin smiled at Marian waiting to see what she would do next.

Marian took another step back, taking a look over her shoulder to see how dangerously close she was to the waters edge. She was close, but still safe from falling into the cold water. "Well maybe I'll have to go show them how wonderful I can be," Marian said with a wicked smile. "I can be very friendly Robin."
Listening to what Robin was saying, Marian couldn't help but feel her heart fluttering and warming, but she wasn't going to give into him that easily. "That is heartbreaking, Robin," Marian said her eye shinning. "I've never meant to bruise any hearts. Maybe you should take me to him so I can help mend the bruises before a crack will appear." Marian took another step back getting within inches of the waters edge.

Robin smiled and walked towards her, "I can be extremely friendly as well, playful even, almost like a child."
Robin grinned as he stood where he was, knowing already how deep the water was, and that they both wouldn't get hurt. "I may have a solution to that problem. Really...it would address all issues at once, bring out the gentlemen, visit and tend to the lady by the fire, bring more flowers, mend hearts..."Robin ran towards Marian and moved to gently push her back into the water, while also falling with her, so in the process they would both get wet.

"Oh trust me, I'm well aware of that Robin," Marian said trying to move further back as he stalked toward her.
"Robin.. really I don't think.." The rest of her words were lost as Marian screamed as she fell back into the water. The water was cold, so very cold, and shocking to her system. Pushing herself up through the water, Marian surfaced gasping for breath. Her cloak was making it hard to tread water and she had swallowed a good mouthful of water as she'd gone under the surface. Coughing water, she turned to look for Robin fuming. "Robin!" Marian fumed still struggling to tread water her heavy cloak pulling her under the water.
