Physical Description: In Fairy Tale Land he tended to wear red clothes usually finer clothes that he bought or stole from people they robbed. He was only a teenager when he joined Robin Hood's gang and was with him for many years. In the real world he wears casual clothes t-shirts and jeans although still wearing red frequently and occasionally wearing suits for parties.

He arrived through a magic bean into another world arriving in New York in 1998 the bean transporting him to the future. He quickly learned what he could about this new world gaining new clothes and selling the ones he had keeping his sword for the memories. After a few months in New York being a thief he got connections and was able to get a fake identity created for him so he could fit in with society. He was now Neal Cassidy. Then a few years later he ran into Emma Swan and David Creed who were dating at the time. They formed a band of thieves and he felt more like home. Although he still missed Robin Hood, Little John, and the others from back home. They were going to pawn some stolen watches David had stolen before and were going to head to Canada and have a good life together.
But then David met August who showed him something. When he opened it he had a note saying he knew he was Baelfire. While Neal was off gathering his things planning to meet Emma and David he met up at the rendezvous point and learned Emma had been arrested and that David had set him up. Feeling betrayed he walked out on David. He visit Emma as often as he could but soon she wouldn't let him see him for several months. Unaware she was pregnant an showing and eventually gave birth and gave Henry away. She allowed him to see her again and they connected. They stayed in touch. But after Emma got out they parted ways. Emma went traveling around the country while Neal stayed in New York.
He later learned of the curse being broken by a note being sent by August who revealed he knew he was Will Scarlet but hadn't said anything because Emma had gone off on her own like he planned. He learned the whole truth and was angry at August at manipulating David and Emma the way he did. He headed to Storybrooke to reunite with his family and see if his old friend Emma needed him.
Fantasy History:
Will was the younger half-brother of Robin Locksley/Robin Hood. Robin's mother died and his father found solace with another woman. But when Robin heard about he was angry and his father went back to Robin leaving Will fatherless. He was angry at his father for leaving and at Robin for taking him away. His father disowned him acting like he didn't exist. He grew up resentful of his half-brother and his father. His father was killed by the Sheriff of Nottingham before he got a chance to reconcile and he eventually joined a band of thieves in Sherwood Forest. Robin Hood eventually joined and became the leader of the group.
They stole from the rich and gave to the poor and gained followers including Friar Tuck and Maid Marian. Maid Marian and Robin Hood got together. But the Sheriff of Nottingham wanted to take over while Prince John and King Richard were away and tried to force Maid Marian to marry him. Will and a few of Robin Hood's merry men were captured and Maid Marian was forced to agree to a marriage so he could become the next king of england. But Will tricked the sheriff into letting him go so he could warn Robin Hood. But the Sheriff's goons followed anyway and attacked. They escaped and eventually defeated the Sheriff and rescued Maid Marian. Maid Marian and Robin Hood were married and Robin Hood and Will made peace with each other when Robin Hood learned he was his half-brother. But their time together as brothers and happy was short as the Sheriff had a powerful friend a witch who wanted revenge and was going to kill Robin Hood. But she was quickly beaten. Using her last trick she threw a magic bean intending to send Robin Hood to another world so he'd never get to be happy and be with his family. Will acted instinctively shoving Robin away as he fell into the portal. Robin tried to grab him but was too late as they shared what they thought was a final goodbye.

Neal drove into town in a Mustang searching for Emma. His old clothes he'd got from August plus his sword and the rest of his possessions were in his car. He'd sold his apartment and was now looking for Emma to at least apologize and hopefully be friends not expecting anything else. He doubted she wanted to see him but he at least wanted to make the effort. He smiled seeing a blonde woman talking with a boy and when she turned it was Emma. He smiled and parked walking towards them hearing the end of their conversation.
"You ready to go kid?" asked Emma.
"Sure Mom." said Henry.
The two walked into the diner while Neal just stood there frozen. Emma had a son? He paused realizing the kid looked like he was about ten as he realized David could be the father. Were David and Emma back together?So he walked in determined to talk to Emma and get some answers from her.
