Annaleigh lay asleep in her bed. She normally dreamed of far away places with princesses and unicorns, but tonight was different. She wasn't dreaming at all. In fact, Annaleigh was having a nightmare.
She was being chased around in a forest by Bigfoot and evil knights. Annaleigh tried to run as fast as her little, eight-year-old legs could go. She was so frightened, she fell to the ground crying her heart out.
Annaleigh woke with a startle. She was crying harder than ever. "Mommy! Daddy!" Little Annaleigh screamed for her mother and father. She was scared to death.

Gold had been a sleep with Abi in his arms, finding contentment with her there with in his arms, he found that with having her around he was sleeping better then in years. How ever his peaceful sleep was shattered when he heard Annaleigh scream, it awoke him like one had thrown ice water on him & he was sure it did the same to Abi, he was quickly grabbing his cane & out of bed, he was dressed in a night shirt & pants, once out of bed he head for Annaleigh room to cheek on her. Once he got to her room, he entered his eyes looking for some danger, how ever at seeing none he looked at Annaleigh as he approached "What is wrong, my child?"

If her daughters scream had not woken her, the quick movements of Gold's would have. Abi was out of the bed and crossing the room only a few steps behind him. The only reason she was not the first one in the room was that Gold was in front of her. The hallways was barely wide enough for her to step around him but she did not want to risk knocking her husband over.
She stepped in right behind Abi, passed Gold and moved quickly to their daughter's bed. Abi was dress in a light spaghetti strap floor length nightgown. Abi heard Gold talk and she now sat on the edge of the bed and pulled Annaleigh onto her lap and into her arms. "Whats wrong, Honey?" Abi asked softly. She glanced around the room and then at Gold. "Did you have a nightmare?"

Gold heard Abi words as she went to comfort there daughter, it was not he did not want to take her into his arms as Abi, had it was more his first though was danger & what it was, as Abi was to comfort there daughter before she looked for the danger. Gold moved to take a seat on Annaleigh bed beside Abi as he waited for Annaleigh to speak.

Annaleigh was so scared she was afraid to speak. However, she knew she could tell her parents anything, and they would make things all better. "Yes, Mommy. I had another nighmare. It was scarier this time. Bigfoot and evil knights were chasing me into a forest. I couldn't run fast enough. Before it got even more scarier, I decided to wake up. I'm so scared Mommy!" Annaleigh cried while squeezing her mother ever so tightly and looking into her father's eyes with fear.

Abi said nothing as Gold sat at her side. She held their daughter as the child told her parents about the nightmare. Abi tried not to laugh. She knew the dream had been scarey to Annaleigh but in reality, it just seemed ridiculous. "It's not every child that can decide when its time to wake up from a dream." Abi to;d he daughter now. "My smart princess. It was only a dream. Nothing to worry about and Daddy and I will always be here to protect you when you need it." There was really not very much a parent could say about things like this.

Gold heard Annaleigh words about the night nightmare, he was sad to hear that she had such a bad dream, he knew like Abi there was little that could be done where such things where concerned, but he still did not like the idea of Annaeleigh being scared & upset "Perhaps a stories, to help keep the nightmares away is in order?" With that he waited to see what the two lady's in his life though, he was sure Annaleigh would be up for it & he was sure that Abi would enjoy the idea to find ways to get the love of reading, to blossom in there child.

Annaleigh hugged her mother tightly. She now knew that as long as her parents were there by her side, she would be alright. "Perhaps a stories, to help keep the nightmares away is in order?" Annaleigh nodded a million times fast as her father had said these words. "Can you and Mommy read me a few stories from the fairytale book Henry gave me?" Annaleigh said crossing the fingers on her free hand that was not around her mother's waist.

Gold saw Annaleigh reaction to his words, he smirked with her words "We could, so what storie should we start with, do you think?" With that he just would wait to hear what Annaleigh though, after all it mattered little to him what storie they started on, so long as it got Annaleigh nightmares to go away that was all that mattered.

Annaleigh thought to herself for a moment. She loved many different stories, but her very favorite one would have had to be Beauty and Beast. Unknown reason why though. "Can you two read my favorite one to me, pwetty please! You remember which one, don't you?" She said with anxious eyes.

Abi sat there listening to her husband and daughter decide that a story was in need. "Can you two read my favorite one to me, petty please! You remember which one, don't you?" their daughter asked now and Abi chuckled. She glanced at Gold now with a knowing look.
"All too well." Abi said softly and the laughed as she took one hand and ran it along Gold's arm. Belle took Annaleigh and placed her on the bed at her side and then she stood and moved to get to book. It was a copy of Henry's book.
Abi had gained Henry's trust with it if only for a few hours so that she could have it duplicated. Cover and all. Now she took the book and then returned to the bed before opening it to the story of Beauty and the Beast. Abi ran the fingers of one hand over the illustration.

Gold heard their daughters words, he smirked & with Abi look it was all to clear they where thinking the same thing, of course the story in the book need to be added to, but he was not about to say that. He shivered at the feel of Abi hand moving on his arm, it was not form the cold or because he did not enjoy Abi touch it was more he would never get enough of it. Gold smiled to Annaleigh as Abi got the book "And what stories is that, mulan or robin hood?" He of course knew the one she wanted, but it was more fun this way. When Abi returned she opened the book, the the beauty & beast story, Gold had watch as Abi ran her fingers of one hand over the illustration "Why do you not start my dear"

Annaleigh giggled aloud. "No, Daddy. It's the one with the girl who goes to this castle and falls in love with a beast. And there's an enchanted rose in there too!" Annaleigh said happily. She then repositioned herself in her mother's lap, squeezed her hands around her, as if in a tight hug. Once her parents started reading, she was planning on moving over to her father's lap. She though he could use some love too since Annaleigh was always by Abi.

Abi smiled softly as Annaleigh climbed into her lap again. At Gold's prompting, Belle began to read out loud in a slow gentle voice. "Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle." She read. "Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold."
Abi looked to Gold silently for a moment and then ran a hand lovingly along her daughters hair. "Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away, but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress." Abi paused now before continuing the story.
She moved on the bed getting move comfortable. Abi lay down on the bed resting her head on Gold's lap and then motioned for Annaleigh to lay next to her. Abi propped the book up on her stomach so she could still read.

Gold listened to Abi read he smiled, it was intresting how the tale had been woven threw time, compaired to what really happened, but then it was suppose to have a happy ending was it not for a fairytale unlike how there had the first time, becouse he was blinded & he allowed it, somthing he would not do again, he swore it & was not about to lose what he loved all over again.
Gold heard as Abi read on before he saw & felt Abi move to rest her head on his lap, somthing he still enjoyed even when it was somthing so simple, he found he was always falling more in love with her as hard as it was to think, it was true there love was like a flower that never died or quit blooming & each blooming it only grew brighter & more pure.
He moved his hand to lightly run threw Abi hair as she read & the moved to do the same to Annaleigh, though the act looked the same it was not with Abi it was as a husband & lover, with Annaleigh it was becuse she was there daughter & the proff of there true love.
