Mr. Gold had been true to his word and Abi stepped out of the school with a smile on her face. She walked down the steps. She had a job and started at the beginning of next month. Sh had a bit of money in her pocket that's to her protector Mr. Gold. And all he had asked in return was that she attend a party with him. Of course she had said yes. She enjoyed going out with the man. Though she did not understand it. He seemed to be feared almost in the town and yet with her, he was nothing but sweet. It was obvious that he was not used to having a woman in his home but he was handling it well enough.
Abi turned towards his shop now. She was going to visit him and tell him about the orientation she had just had. Abi walked at a good pace and a happy posture. When she reach the pawn shop, Abi paused at the window suddenly unsure. She could see a few people inside with him. Abi remembered his words about her being there causing too many questions. Abi looked down for a minute. No, she would not go in. Not now. She did not want to anger him. Belle looked around for a moment before spotting what looked like a wooden cottage. It was at the end of the street in a island of grass all of its own. It looked quaint and pretty and it called to her. Belle started off in that direction now.
The cottage, as she got closer, was a shop...a litte eatery. Belle took in the outside seating section and the fruit treats and then read the sign to herself. She titled her head and then entered. Instantly she loved the room. The floors were wooden with flagstone walkways. There were six tables on either side of the room and a large plank wood and glass counter in front of her. On the counter was a interesting statue of a toadstool with a caterpillar on top. Abi stepped closer looking at this.
She heard foot steps and then looked up.

The shop was quite busy and Vayda of course had way to much to do on her own, but she always managed anyhow. She was in the kitchen taking out some fresh cherry pies out of the oven to let them cool, so she could add them to the showcase for purchasing. She knew that Mr.Gold would be stopping by any moment to collect this months loan replayment, so she was trying to make as much money as she could no matter how hard she had to work herself.
Vayda turned and grabbed some blueberry tarts that she had made earlier, and since they were cooled off they were now ready for the showcase. With both hands full, Vayda went to the showcase in the shop and started to put her tarts inside, when she noticed a woman standing at the counter looking at her little figurine of a catapillar on a mushroom. Vayda stood up slowly and spoke to the woman.
"You like that thing to huh?" she said to her with one hand on her hip and flour all over her face. "I don't know what it is about it, but I always felt like it was a part of me somehow...weird I know" she said. Vayda wiped off her hand in her apron and held it out to the woman. "My name is Vayda..what's yours?" she asked her with a friendly grin. "What can I get for you today?", she asked her, while she continued to fill the showcase with the rest of the blueberry tarts.

Abi looked up as the blond stepped out from the back of the store. "You like that thing to huh?" The other woman asked her and Abi looked back to the statue and nodded. "It is interesting." She replied. "I don't know what it is about it, but I always felt like it was a part of me somehow...weird I know" Abi had to laugh. She took the woman's hand when it was offered. "My name is Vayda..what's yours? What can I get for you today?" The blond finished.
"Abi.." Abi replied and then smiled. "and I'll take one of those." She said pointing to the tarts. "And a tea." With one more smile, once everything was ready, Abi took her selections and stepped out the side door to the outdoor seating area. She took a table near the back of the patio and in the shade under the pear tree. It was so pretty here.
It was hard to believe that Abi had been locked away for twenty-eight years. She had missed so much... The thought brought tears to her eyes but she wiped them away quickly. There was no use crying over something that could not be changed. Abi sat there for sometime. She ate the tart with sudden love for the woman inside. The treat was delicious. Abi would certainly be returning. She glanced at the tea now realizing that she had forgotten cream. Abi stood and moved to step back into the shop.

Gold had caught a glimpse of Abi, as she walked by his face creased a bit he though she was going home, how ever he had costumers to deal with first before he could really think on where Abi might go though, he was sure she was safe so that is what mattered most.
Once he finished up with the costumes, he closed his shop he had rent to collected his first stop Miss. Adams, it would be interesting if she had the money if not well then, he would just take what the deal inclined him for, after all he had given her enough time.
He walked at a steady pace, his cane lightly tapping the side walk as he want, as always he was dressed in a suit that looked to be tailored for him with a tie. Entering the shop he looked around, many people where leaving the few that where left look up saw him before looking down or away. His sights then went looking for Miss. Adams, when he saw her he approached the counter a none to pleasant look on his face.

Vayda really like this girl right from the start, as she was very nice and polite. "Abi.." the girl replied to Vayda in response to her question about her name. "That is a very pretty name" Vayda said with a smile. She was very happy when Abi wanted to try one of her fresh blueberry tarts. "Good choice Abi...these blueberries were freshly picked today so that taste will be marvalous" she said to her in convidence about her tart.
Vayda handed the tart over to her along with a cup of tea, "That will be $3.50 please" she said to Abi, as she went over to the cash register. She then watched Abi take her items and go outside. "Thank you...and enjoy" she said loudly at Abi as she walked away towards the patio. After a few moments, Vayda noticed that Abi's cream was still on the counter and to make sure her customer was satisfied she crabbed the cream and headed towards the patio door to bring it to her.
Just as Vayda opened the door, Abi was right there. "I believe you were comming in for this?" she said to her with a smile. She noticed that Abi's face wasn't as what it appeared before, all happy and glowing. "What's the matter....have you been crying?" she asked her with alot of concern. Vayda spent a couple of moments with her and then noticed that there were customers at the counter inside. "Excuse me for a moment" she said to Abi as she headed inside.
When Vayda got behind the counter, she looked up and noticed that the customer was Mr.Gold. Very nervous she began to sputter,"H-hello Mr.Gold...is it that time already?" she asked him while she started to straighten things on the counter. "What can I get for you?" she asked him hopeing that he was there only for a treat and not his payment, as she was quite short for her payment since this month was quite slow

Gold, saw Alice return he did not miss the look that passed her face with seeing him, it only made a smirk of a smile grow, with the knowing. At her first words he spoke simple "It is Miss. Kingsley" With that he waited, he was not one to let, any get away with out paying or he should say other the Abi, he let none get away form paying him. After all they are the ones that made the deals, they should learn to up hold them when they made them"

Abi had not expected the door to open just as she reached it but she did put her hand out for the cream. She gave a friendly smile and then was about to speak when Vayda beat her to it. "What's the matter....have you been crying?" Abi started to shake her head slowly. This other woman would never understand. How could she be expected to?
"It's nothing." She started to say but then Vayda hurried back inside. Abi followed her in and stood unnoticed. She too had spotted Mr. Gold. Abi would have spoken to him but it seemed that he and Vayda were in a not too pleasant discussion. Vayda looked frighted and Mr. Gold unhappy.
"H-hello Mr.Gold...is it that time already?" Vayda had asked. Abi tilted her head a little. Her cooling tea outside was forgotten. Time for what? What was going on here? Abi sank slowly into the nearest chair silently. Maybe she should not be eves dropping. Maybe this would get her in trobble but she wanted to know.

Vayda watched as Mr.Gold reasured her that it was time to pay him. She reached under the counter and took out this metal looking chest. She rested it on the counter and looked at him and leaned over to him so no one could hear their conversation. "I'm a lttle short this month" she said to him with a look of anxiety.
She knew that he wasn't going to be ok with that, so she had to think up of something quick. She looked out into her shop and she seen her customers staring at her, and that he new friend was probably judging her, but she had busness to take care of.
"I'll tell you what Mr.Gold, I propose a new temporary deal just for the remainder of this new month" she added, hoping that he would go for it. "Not only will you get your money, but I will add on an additional $100.00 in interest payable to you" she said to him with a pleasant smile. She had no idea how this was going to happen, but she just wanted him out of there and the stress to go away.

Gold watched Vayda, with her first words he was not pleased he was sure many in the store could tell, the grip on his can tightened because of it.
"Are deal was a total amount" He watched her, he had no real fear of anyone here, with her next words it did get his interested, though it was no saying he would take it "So this new deal, if I excepted means that bye the end of the month you will pay me the rest of what you owe me, pulse an extra $100.00?"
He looked at Vayda "Other then your want to make a small side deal, on top of your old one. Give me reason that I should, do it after all I have done it for no one else & if I start with you, then I would have to do if for others, other wise it looks like I am playing favorites & we could not have that could we?"
Gold knew he was being a jerk, yet it was true he had never gave people more time, not yet & if he started well, it could turn very bad for him.

Vayda could hear that there was a spot of interest in Mr.Gold when she asked him to alter their deal just this once, and then she heard the dreaded words that he just loved to say. "Are deal was a total amount" he scoffed at her.
Vayda, not knnowing what to do just kept listening to him since he was not finished. "So this new deal, if I excepted means that bye the end of the month you will pay me the rest of what you owe me, pulse an extra $100.00?" Vayda smiled at him, "yes Mr.Gold that is what I'm offereing, will you except?" she pleaded to him.
"Other then your want to make a small side deal, on top of your old one. Give me reason that I should, do it after all I have done it for no one else & if I start with you, then I would have to do if for others, other wise it looks like I am playing favorites & we could not have that could we?".
Vayda looked over at her customers and her friend over in the corner and then back at Mr.Gold. "Why?" she asked him briefly. "Because this place means alot to everyone in this town...even you Mr.Gold" she added. "Where else in this place do you get fresh baking and freshly made fruit and exotic tea's everyday?" she said. "Tell me sir...I'm sure that you would miss it, since you are in here quite a bit yourself" she said to him with a smirk. "So...do we have a deal Mr.Gold?" she finsihed.

Gold had might to do something, yet he held back for the moment "Do not get smirk with me, places are only business nothing more Miss. Adames & none above me not closing if I so wished, you would do well to keep that in mind" He watched Vayda more closely, he was sure there was some hint of a challenge in her words & tone. "How ever, the $100.00 dollars more, is better business move right now, though do not think that I will be so kind again, when you cannot pay up"

Abi scoffed softly. She now stepped up beside him and placed a small hand on his hand on his cane. "Really, Mr. Gold." She told him now and then released his hand quickly. "I'm sure Vayda did not intend to be short on her rent." She glanced at the other girl now for confirmation. "And a extra hundred dollars seems fair to me." Abi did not doubt that her stepping in would anger him. She was sure she would hear about it later. "You don't have to do it for everyone. Just maybe make an exception?"

Gold barley heard Abi, as she steeped up beside him with his focus on Vayda, at her touch he did not miss, it though it was quickly gone as he heard her words. He knew her touch & besides few would of tried such a deed with him in such a mood & mind set. "She might not Miss. Fisher, that did not change the fact she is short on what is owed, besides I think my words were clear I excepted her deal, though I just made clear I will not be so nice, the next time"

Vayda was so nervous around this man, and she knew t was for other reason's than the obvious. She had thing feelng that she had met him somewhere before, but she couldn't remember when. In fact, Vayda couldn't remember anything at all from her childhood..or anything for that matter...just storybrook.
She could see her new friend now moving towards them, while her and Mr. Gold's conversation grew deeper. She didn't want her new friend to hear her troubles as it would make her very embarrassed. She then heard Mr. Gold speak, "How ever, the $100.00 dollars more, is better business move right now, though do not think that I will be so kind again, when you cannot pay up. Vayda hung her head a bit with his usual cold coments, then she had seen Abi move closer and then started to talk to Mr. Gold.
"Really, Mr. Gold... I'm sure Vayda did not intend to be short on her rent." Abi said to him, while Vayda's head came upwards and was feelng a bit of relief when she had spoke. "And a extra hundred dollars seems fair to me..but you don't have to do it for everyone...just maybe make an exception?". Vayda couldn't belive it that she was helping her out like that, even with just meeting her just a few minuites ago.
"Thank you very much Abi...It will be worth your wile Mr. Gold..I do promise you that" she said. "So...do we have a deal Mr. Gold?", she asked knowing that now that Abi stepped in, he would probably grant her that deal. She looked over at Abi, and smiled at her graciously.

Gold's words were harsh in her ears. She had over stepped her boundaries but Vayda's smile made it better at least for the time being. She did not know how Mr. Gold would react to her standing up for this girl. She glanced at his face from the side now. She had heard the girls thanks but Abi did not feel that it would go over if she commented to the girl just yet. She lightly squeezed Mr. Gold's hand once more silently asking him to understand. When Vayda asked if she and Mr Gold had a deal, Abi waited at his side silently. She doubted very much that Vayda had any idea of what was happening between Abi and Mr. Gold.
