Physical Description: He's short and has short black hair. He has tan skin. In Fairy Tale world he originally wore just a red loincloth living in the jungle. But he wore peasant clothes once taken by the Pied Piper and wears modern clothes in Storybrooke.

Storybrooke History:
In Storybrooke he's an orphan living in the town orphanage as what he wanted was a family or friends. He has a lonely life having very little. He still is stubborn and has a bit of a temper often getting into trouble at the orphanage or at school. Mostly just minor offenses that land him in detention or give him extra chores at home. He's given up hoping someone will adopt him deciding no one would want him anyway. Although he still wants a family but he's not going to get his hopes up wishing he had one anymore. When the curse broke his memories returned he began searching for his adopted father hoping he was still here. He still misses his old animal friends but doubts they are here in this world. He often visits the zoo or the forest feeling the animals are his only friends.
Fantasy History:
Mowgli's parents were killed when he was just a baby leaving him alone and defenseless in the jungle. He was taken by Bagheera to a family of wolves who raised him. Mowgli lived there for 10 years before Shere Khan was spotted in the jungle. The wolf pack met and decided Mowgli most go live in the man village. Bagheera took Mowgli away from the pack. At night after they stopped to rest Mowgli is nearly eaten by Kaa. But Bagheera stops him and when Kaa tries to hypnotize Bagheera Mogwli shoves him out of the tree saving them both. The next morning Mowgli met the elephant herd befriending Hathi Jr. Bagheera stopped Haithi and the two got into a fight and Bagheera abandons Mowgli.
Mowgli later meets Baloo and Baloo decides to teach him how to fight and to be a bear. They quickly become good friends but during a relaxing float down the river some monkeys kidnap Mowgli and take him to King Louie who wants to learn how to make fire to become a man. Mowgli doesn't know how to make fire but Louie doesn't believe him. Baloo & Bagheera show up and rescue him ending up destroying the place in the process. When Baloo learns Shere Khan is going to kill Mowgli if he finds him he agrees to take him to the man village as well.
But when Mowgli learns of this he leaves Baloo hurt. He runs into Kaa who claims to be his friend before he hypnotizes him again and is about to eat him. Shere Khan interrupts Kaa who hides Mowgli and when Shere Khan leaves Mowgli breaks free from Kaa and shoves him out of the tree. Defeated again Kaa slinks off into the jungle with Mowgli angry with Kaa lying to him. He then ends up in the wilderness meeting a group of vultures. They pick on him at first but apologize and befriend him inviting him to stay with them. Shere Khan shows up having followed his trail hearing about him being there from the elephants and Bagheera's conversation. Baloo shows up to the rescue but is hurt by Shere Khan and believed to be dead. Mowgli eventually scares Shere Khan away by tying a branch on fire to Shere Khan's tail. Bagheera arrives too late saying Baloo was a hero only for Baloo
to reveal he was still alive. The trio head to the man village and Mowgli decides to go after seeing a girl Shanti get some water to bring to the village.
The village soon had a rat problem and the Pied Piper visited getting rid of the rats. But the villagers refused to pay him and like before he played his music taking the children out of the city. However Mowgli was more resistant to hypnotism as he'd broken out of Kaa's hynpotism twice so he soon broke out of it. Learning he was a new arrival to the village and had no parents especially in the village Pied Piper was going to let him go but he pitied the boy having no family of his own and during the trip had grown fond of the boy. Not having children of his own the Pied Piper decided to adopt Mowgli raising him as his own.
